Only Fools and Horses star Patrick Murray reveals he is battling lung disease
Only Fools and Horses actor Patrick Murray, who famously played Mickey Pearce, has revealed that he is battling lung disease.
Murray, who played Rodney Trotter’s sidekick on the BBC sitcom, has told how he is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung condition that leaves patients struggling to breathe.
The 61-year-old was due to take part in a charity bus trip to Margate in a bid to pay tribute to the show’s 1989 classic ‘The Jolly Boys’ Outing’.
However, he was supposedly forced to pull out so that he could be treated for ‘breathing difficulties’.
According to the Daily Star, Murray’s agent, Mark Neale said: “Pat was really disappointed to let so many people down, but he is having treatment and hopes to arrange it again later in the year.”
The publication added that the actor has vowed to get well enough to do the trip in October.
Time on Our Hands, a 1996 Christmas special, pulled in 24.35 million viewers when it debuted on the BBC.
The episode first aired on December 29, and famously sees Rodney Trotter become a millionaire when he stumbles across an 18th Century watch.
It was one of a trilogy of Christmas episodes including the beloved Batman and Robin fancy dress instalment, which came in at #12 on the list.
