Niall Horan sings for One Direction, has been a golf caddie for Rory McIlory and now he’s got a mention in JK Rowling’s latest novel.

The 22-year-old singer is referenced in Career of Evil – which she has published under her pen name Robert Galbraith.

The novel follows Cormoran Strike as he investigates the murder of Kelsey – who was a huge fan of the Irish singer.

In one excerpt posted by a fan, the victim’s friend Hazel explains to Kelsey’s mother how her daughter had an obsession with the singer and treated him as her imaginary boyfriend.

Explaining that he is a member of One Direction, Hazel continues: “The band. They’re a band that came third on The X Factor. She’s obsessed - she was obsessed - and Niall was her favourite.

“So when she says she’s met a boy called Niall and he’s eighteen and he’s got a motorbike, I mean, what were we supposed to think?’

Fans were quick to express their excitement at the news with one writing: "Niall Horan on J.K. Rowling's new book OMG OMG OMG OMG."

Another posted: "In JK Rowling's new book, one of her characters has an obsession with Niall Horan and is murdered. I NEED THIS."
