Noel Gallagher clearly won’t be part of the 80,000 strong audience watching Ed Sheeran when he headlines Wembley Stadium later this year.

The former Oasis singer laid into the “polished pop” star during an interview with NME.

Gallagher, 47, said: "I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible.

"When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a f*****g guitar it seems subversive, but it's f*****g not."

The musician - who earlier this week released his single Ballad Of the Mighty I from his upcoming album Chasing Yesterday - also ranted about the "strange" state of the music industry.

He said: "It’s a strange time, and it seems like the whole thing is embedded for good now, for f*****g forever. It’s not all over.

“In the early ‘80s everyone at indie labels, even major labels, were trying to push this music to the fore because everything else was shit, and maybe it’ll happen again, but I don’t see it for the next decade."
