Noel Gallagher was hailed the Best Solo Artist as he scooped two gongs at the annual Q Awards.

The former Oasis star, 51, celebrated with his wife Sara MacDonald and pal Matt Smith on a night which also saw him honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music accolade.

Gallagher was among a host of musicians awarded at Camden’s legendary Roundhouse on Wednesday night including Paul Weller who was awarded the Best Act in the World Today title.

Comedian Mo Gilligan was joined by a handful of famous faces to dish out 17 awards before 2018 Mercury Prize winners Wolf Alice, who picked up Best Live Act, performed to a VIP crowd.

Gallagher took the opportunity to take a swipe at reality TV shows, in particular The X Factor, which he described as "f****** boring".

"I don’t watch X Factor anymore," he told the Daily Star. "It’s not because of Robbie though, but I think Strictly is offensive.”

U2’s Bono, Jess Glynne, Professor Green, Jarvis Cocker, Shaun Ryder and Roger Daltrey were among those presenting awards.
