Who is NikkieTutorials? Five facts about the YouTube star who recently came out as transgender
Influential beauty blogger Nikkie de Jager revealed in an emotional YouTube video earlier this week that she is transgender.
De Jager, who posts online under the name NikkieTutorials, has millions of subscribers to her YouTube channel and more than one billion video views.
The 25-year-old said she had chosen to reveal her personal information in a video entitled I'm Coming Out following threats she had received from blackmailers.
Here are five facts about the YouTube star Nikkie Tutorials...
1. She is a professional makeup artist
We all knew de Jager was extremely talented at makeup and the star's skills are the result of years of hard work as a professional makeup artist.
She enrolled in a professional makeup course after around two years of making beauty videos for YouTube, which led her to join Pascale Tesser's Colourfool Agency in 2011.
The agency later helped her secure jobs for magazines such as Marie Claire, and in 2013, she became the head makeup artist for the RTL5 show I Can Make You a Supermodel.
In 2014 she went freelance, which helped her dedicate more time to her YouTube videos.
2. She transitioned when she was a teenager
In her emotional 17-minute video, de Jager revealed she started to wear women's clothing and grow her hair out when she was around seven or eight years old.
When she was 14 she started taking hormones and growth stoppers to prevent her becoming any taller and was fully transitioned by the time she was 19.
"I got my hormones because I'm a tall b***h," she revealed. "I kept on growing and they were like 'let's tone that down'.
"I got growth stoppers because I was supposed to be a lot taller than I am today. By the time I was 19, I fully transitioned."
3. She is engaged to her boyfriend of just over a year
De Jager started dating her now-fiance Dylan Drossaers way back in 2018 after the pair met through a mutual friend.
And while it seems Drossaers likes to keep himself out of the headlights, the couple did let their Instagram followers know of their engagement in August last year, after Drossaers proposed during a romantic break to Italy,

At the time of writing, de Jager has nearly 13 million followers on YouTube, where she updates subscribers with makeup tutorials and product reviews.
In 2017 de Jager, who has been sharing content for 11 years, was named one of the top ten beauty influencers by Forbes and her videos have a combined total of more than 1.1 billion views.
5. She is worth a lot of money
Producing all that content is a lucrative market. According to Hopper HQ, de Jager is worth a cool $6 million with most of the money coming from YouTube advertisements.
Socialblade estimates her annual income as high as £.8 million.
