Kylie Minogue has revealed that music was her “great escape” while trying to cope with her split from fiancé Joshua Sasse.

The Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer split from the Galavant actor in February last year, and has stayed tight-lipped about the break-up.

But it seems that Minogue has used her heartache to create her new album, Golden, which she describes as her “saviour”.

Speaking to The Sun, Minogue said: “Making this album was a kind of saviour. The end of 2016 was not a good time for me.

“So when I started working on the album in 2017 it was, in many ways, a great escape.”

Minogue also opened up about being “fragile” during the process, which helped her regain her “sense of self”.

She said: “I was quite fragile when I started work on it but being able to express myself in the studio made quick work of regaining my sense of self — writing about various aspects of my life, the highs and lows, with a real sense of knowing and of truth.”

Her brand new single, Dancing, which saw its first play on BBC Radio 2 on Thursday, is released on Friday.

Taking to social media to express her excitement, Minogue tweeted: “Thank you so much to everyone for tuning in for the first play of #Dancing... ...I am completely overwhelmed and sending out so much love.

“The single is available at midnight tonight, when you can also pre-order my new album GOLDEN!”
