Michelle Keegan has said she was left red-faced after watching herself in a sex scene at a screening with her parents in attendance.

Keegan, 29, plays Lance Corporal Georgie Lane in the second series of Our Girl, and is seen getting passionate with Luke Pasqualino in the opening scenes.

Speaking on This Morning about watching the scene with her family she said: “With parents watching it’s so cringe! We had a screening a couple of days ago in Manchester and my parents came, but luckily I wasn’t sat anywhere near them, but my brother was… and it's one of the first opening scenes.

“My brother said he didn’t look at them once and there was silence. So yeah it was quite embarrassing!”

The former Coronation Street actress said it is less awkward for her husband Mark Wright as he used to seeing her kissing men on screen.

“Everyone makes a big deal about how Mark feels about it, but my character in Corrie went with a few men, so yes, he’s seen me kiss loads of guys,” she said.

“It’s my job. I can’t turn around and say ‘no, I don’t want to do this’.”

Keegan was forced to spend time apart from Wright while filming the BBC drama in South Africa - which led to reports that their marriage was on the rocks. Rumours were also fuelled when she stepped out without her wedding ring.

Addressing the reports, she told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “Oh the ring! I was living in hotels at the time and I didn’t want to keep my ring in the hotel incase it gets lost… so I didn’t have it on and the next thing the papers blew up, it’s silly really.

"It’s frustrating, we’re fine. I just don’t read any of the negative press now.”

Keegan's comments come a day after Wright posted a gushing message about his wife of one year.

Alongisde a picture of Keegan he wrote: “Seriously though.... Look at this woman from tonight.... No words.... Can't tell you how proud I am of what she has achieved.
