Matthew Lewis was transported back to J. K. Rowling’s wizarding world as he met up with the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The 27-year-old actor – who found fame as Neville Longbottom – praised the cast for a “truly magical” performance and thanked them for allowing him to fall in love with Harry Potter all over again.

Lewis shared a picture of himself back stage at the Palace Theatre with Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Poppy Miller (Ginnie Weasley) and Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley).

He captioned the shot: “A giant congratulations and an even bigger thank you to these guys and the rest of the cast of #CursedChild.

“To be in the movies was a dream come true but it became work and I forgot what it was to be a fan a long time ago.

“However, over the last two nights I was able to enjoy the world of Harry Potter once again. To lose myself in a story so rich and so powerful and, more importantly, that I had nothing to do with was truly magical.

“I felt like I was nine years old again, discovering it all for the first time and it is very, very special.”

Lewis isn’t the first member of the cast of the film franchise to visit the stage stars.

The play's official Instagram account posted the image out alongside the caption: "Rupert Grint met Paul Thornley after the #CursedChild performance this evening at the Palace Theatre, London. #KeepTheSecrets."

Emma Watson - who played Hermione Granger - also met her stage alter ego Noma Dumezweni.

Watson praised the “wonderful” actress and said she was “everything I could ever hope she would be”.
