Mary Berry does not want to see a ‘large person’ judging Great British Bake Off
Mary Berry has said that she never wants to see a “large person” judge the Great British Bake Off as it may put viewers off of eating cakes.
The 80-year-old presenter - who made a living from baking biscuits, cakes and sugary treats - said she is conscious of how looks can affect viewers.
Speaking to the Sunday Times food magazine, Berry said: “You don’t want somebody who’s judging cakes to be large. Or else people will say, ‘Look what happens when you eat cake’.
“I eat carefully because people don’t want to see a large person judging cakes.”

Speaking about her own cake eating habits the soggy bottom loather said that she is “very disciplined”.
“I think to eat cake is very good for us but it’s the size of the slice and how often you have it,” she said.
“I’m very disciplined. I make myself eat one piece of toast for breakfast. When I’m doing Bake Off, I eat soup for lunch. I know what puts on weight for me, it’s just over-indulgence.”
Great British Bake Off returns on Wednesday for the series finale.
Last week’s semi-final saw 10.2 million viewers tune in to watch Tamal, Nadiya and Ian bake their way to the final while Flora was sent home.
