Taking cabs and employing personal chauffeurs may have finally caught up with Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, and he’s decided to tackle driving.

Car manufacturer Hyundai has challenged the 24-year-old candy man to get behind the wheel.

Laing said: “People have been telling me to learn to drive for ages, especially my mother... My excuse has always been "I like walking". However, now I’ve been set the challenge, I’ll make sure that I pass with flying colours.”

It was important that the McVitie's heir had the right driving instructor to help him with the challenge so potential candidates were whittled down in a matchmaking process.

He was hoping that this would produce a young and attractive female who he could potentially start dating, but he was left disappointed after a man turned up and declared himself the instructor.

Much to the star’s dismay he has been given a personalised car emblazoned with “The Boi is Learning: It’s been a Laing time coming” as well as plenty of L-plates for the experience.

He said: “I was hoping that my car would be subtle and discreet, but the fact that it has my name written all over it means that all of Chelsea will be able to see my mistakes - not that I ever make mistakes!”

It doesn’t look like it will be a smooth ride for the business man as he doesn’t know what manual means – but don’t panic, he’s fully prepared with his “driving Gucci’s”.

Over the next eight weeks, there will be a video series following Jamie’s progress and he will be joined by special guests as he learns how to drive in London.

Keep up-to-date with his challenge by following the #spotjamie hashtag on Twitter.
