Love Island star Ellie Brown has broken her silence on her split with Charlie Brake, thanking fans for their support and admitting she was “not the perfect girlfriend”.

The Geordie star, who appeared on the ITV2 show over the summer, also asked fans to “stop coming to her with articles claiming she brought this on herself” as she confessed she “adored Charlie”.

Posting on her Instagram story, Brown wrote: “Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you to everybody who has sent me lots of love since Tuesday but I beg you to please stop coming to me with articles that claim I brought this on myself.

“I am trying to deal with this as best and as quietly as a possible but it is hard and if you really believe that you are just as cowardly as the person who said it.

“By no means am I saying I was the perfect girlfriend but I adored Charlie from the bottom of my heart and he knows that.”

She concluded that she “didn’t even know what to say” about the situation, ending her emotional post with a red heart.

The series 4 couple had been plagued with split rumours in recent months and, last week, Brake revealed the sad news they had officially split in a rather blunt Instagram post .

His statement read: “Just to inform you all, Ellie and I have decided to part ways. I wish her all the best.”
