Niall Aslam leaving Love Island 2018: ‘Worried’ friends can’t get hold of star after he exits villa ‘for personal reasons’

Friends of Love Island star Niall Aslam haven’t been able to contact him since he left the villa for “personal reasons”, it has been claimed.

The 23-year-old shocked viewers – and his fellow islanders – with his abrupt departure, announced during Tuesday night’s episode .

Friends of the Coventry-born construction worker told The Sun Online that they were “shocked” to hear of his exit and “couldn’t get hold of him” to find out what has happened.

One pal told the publication: “We don't know what's gone on and we haven’t spoken to him so we’re in the dark.”

While a second source said: “We just found out when it came on the press.

“We are as shocked as everyone else is. It's a shame as he was doing really well and taking the show by storm. He is really popular as he’s a lovely boy.”

No further details about Aslam leaving have been given, with Dr Alex George having broken the news during last night’s show.

At the start of the episode, he gathered the group to tell them: “For personal reasons unfortunately he can’t continue or come back to the Villa."

George then headed to the Beach Hut and added: "I’m obviously sad that Niall’s left the Villa. We got on really, really well. He’s such a great guy.

"I look forward to catching up with him and having some fun with him outside.”

Love Island continues Wednesday at 9pm on ITV2.
