Louise Redknapp has opened up about her “tough” divorce from ex-sportsman Jamie, saying it was not an easy experience.

The couple split in 2017 after nearly 20 years of marriage. Louise filed for divorce on the grounds of Jamie’s “unreasonable behaviour”.

Speaking on Radio 4’s Women’s Hour she said: “Going through a divorce, it being so public. It’s tough.

“No one can take that easily, it’s not an easy thing for women or men or anyone to go through. And you rely on your friends, so my girlfriends have been my rock.”

She continued: “It’s honest and truthful friendships. Most of my friends I’ve known since school.”

Her comments came as Jamie’s rumoured new girlfriend was revealed. The football pundit, who shares sons Charley, 15, and Beau, 10, with Louise, is said to be dating 34-year-old model Lizzie Bowden.

The Sun reports that Jamie has been “biding his time” out of respect for his ex-wife but is “finally” ready to move on.

A source told the paper: “Jamie has bided his time out of courtesy to Louise. They’re still close but now might be the time he finally starts dating again.”

Louise previously revealed that she and Jamie remain good friends – but she did blame him for ruining her one day off a week.

The singer, who is currently in West End Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5, said Jamie’s job as a pundit means she is on childcare duties every Sunday.

“I do all eight shows a week so I have Sunday off,” she told Chris Evans.

“We do go out, but Sunday morning is sport morning, I’m on the rugby pitch for four hours.

“Jamie works a lot on the weekend because he’s at the football. My older one doesn’t even appreciate it, he’s like, ‘Why are you here?’”
