Louise Redknapp was rushed to hospital after a “nasty” fall that means she has pulled out of the Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5 in London’s West End.

The Strictly Come Dancing star suffered a deep cut to her chin and reportedly fractured her left wrist after taking a tumble on her way to rehearsals.

A representative told the Standard Redknapp was “gutted” that she will miss the opening weeks of the musical.

Louise wrote online: "It breaks my heart to say I am having to take some time out and won't be able to continue with my role in 9-5.

"Due to a nasty fall I have only gone and fractured my wrist and got 10 (yes 10) stitches in my chin.

"Following my doctors orders - they have said I will be ok but as they say in the theatre 'the show must go on' and I wish the rest of the fabulous cast an amazing opening night and I will be back on that stage for 9-5 before you know it."

Redknapp, who was set to play Violet Newstand in the show, was told she cannot work for two months after receiving urgent treatment for her injuries, the Sun reported.

The devastated ex-Eternal singer was injured when she fell in the street on the way to rehearsals on Tuesday and was taken to hospital, a friend of the star told the newspaper.

“She went to hospital and had stitches. Then doctors told her she needs time out and can’t do the show,” they said. “She is obviously completely devastated because this is a dream role for her. It doesn’t seem fair.”

A representative for Redknapp said: “She had a nasty fall on the way to rehearsals on Tuesday. She’s gutted to pull out of the opening weeks of 9 to 5.”

Love Island winner Amber Davies, 22, comedian Brian Conley, 57, and actress Natalie McQueen, 29, are also in the show, which runs from January 28 to August 31 at the Savoy Theatre.

It was not immediately clear who would replace Redknapp.
