Dame Diana Rigg, star of the forthcoming West End play Suddenly Last Summer by Tennessee Williams, is renovating a new £1.2 million terraced house off Fulham Road after selling her Kensington home, with its large garden and swimming pool, for £3 million through John D Wood. "She is creating two maisonettes at the new home, so her Portuguese housekeeper can live there, too, with her family, says a friend.

Sir Jacob Epstein spent the last 30 years of his life working in a 2,500sq ft Victorian studio between Kensington Gardens and Cromwell Road. But today he would barely recognise 25 Queen's Gate Mews, on sale for £1.85 million through Lurot Brand. The three-storey, blue-plaque home now has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Epstein, who died in 1959 aged 79, was best known for his bronzes of Sir Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw, TS Eliot and Albert Einstein.

You might catch a whiff of formaldehyde if you view a three-cabin Chelsea houseboat moored between Battersea Bridge and Lots Road. The 77ft canal barge, called Macaulay, is close to a rather ritzier version owned by one of the UK's richest living artists, Damien Hirst . It is for sale at £280,000 from the Chelsea Yacht & Boat Company.

Sarah Churm , who plays Nurse Carter in ITV's drama series Sweet Medicine, has bought her first home - a flat in Nottingham. Until now she was living with her parents nearby. "Nottingham has a great nightlife, with plenty of trendy clubs and wine bars," insists a friend. "So Sarah has bought in the right location." The actress, will share the flat with her long-standing boyfriend, physiotherapist Chris McGill.
