Perrie Edwards faced a barrage of online abuse after fans claimed she tweaked a lyric to make a dig at Zayn Malik’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

The Little Mix singer was performing Shout Out to My Ex – which she wrote following her split from Malik – in Auckland, New Zealand when she appeared to throw shade at the model.

Fans claimed she changed “hope she ain't faking it like I did” to “hope she ain't faking like Hadid.”

On singing the line, bandmate Jade Thirlwall burst out laughing as Edwards struggled to continue singing.

Edwards – who is dating Arsenal player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – told her “Jade, don't!”

Edwards’ Instagram account was targeted by angry Malik fans who posted snake emojis and branded her “tragic.” Others claimed she still isn’t over her relationship with the former One Direction singer.

One user commented: “She said the word 'Hadid'. Her voice didn't crack. Cause when she said it she started laughing with the other Little Mix members! Like dude its been years, GET OVER IT!”

Another posted: “To conclude,i think Perrie has to be a little more appreciative towards Zayn. He did buy her career and helped it grow.”

Others defended her with one commenting: “Hadid is pronounced Ha-deed not Ha-did and Perrie didn't say anything remotely close to "Ha-deed" She said "Like I did" but her voice cracked and made a weird noise. That's why Jade was laughing at her. Stop being delusional, stubborn b******.”

Another wrote: “This is so pathetic and immature. Thinking she says 'hadid', are you f****** serious? She CLEARLY says 'I did' every time.”

Edwards and Malik were together for four years and engaged for two. She claimed he broke up with her over a text message.

“It was horrible, the worst time in my life,” she wrote. “A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message.

“Just like that. Even thought things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me. I was happy but inside I felt broken.”
