Lily Allen has warned of the dangers of using gas stoves after a "terrifying" explosion in her caravan at Glastonbury today.

The 30-year-old singer said she was "grateful to be alive" after the fire at the music festival site in Somerset.

Sharing a photograph on her Instagram page this evening of the minor burns she suffered in the explosion, she issued a warning to fans to take extra care when cooking on gas stoves.

She wrote: "I was in a gas explosion in my caravan today and I have minor burns and singed my eyelashes considerably.

"It was absolutely terrifying and I wouldn't want anyone to go through anything similar. please be SO careful using gas stoves at anytime but especially during festival season when ones reaction times may be a little off.

"Feeling very grateful to be alive. Happy camping".

Allen, a mother-of-two, has been documenting her stay in Glastonbury with photographs on Instagram page ahead of the five day music festival, which begins on Wednesday.

Last year the Smile singer performed a well-received set on the festival's iconic Pyramid stage.

Tonight she received a flurry of sympathetic tweets from concerned fans after revealing she had been injured in the explosion.

One said: "I hope you and everyone are all okay and are still able to enjoy Glastonbury."

Another wrote: "Hope you recover quickly".

And one said: "Oh god! Hope you feel better soon and glad you weren't significantly hurt!"
