Liam Payne looked downcast as his girlfriend Cheryl appeared to reject his romantic advances at a Rihanna concert.

The former One Direction singer, 22, was enjoying the gig at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas when he decided to lean in for a kiss.

But his affections were knocked back as Cheryl appeared to be more interested in dancing to Rihanna’s performance of B**** Better Have My Money.

Payne looked crestfallen as he turned away from the former Girls Aloud singer and rubbed his face while she continued to dance.

The musical couple began dating following Cheryl’s split from her husband of 18 months, Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini earlier this year.

The pair – who first met on The X Factor in 2008 – teased their relationship on Instagram before going public in March.

They have been pictured enjoying dates in London and even stepped out for dinner with Cheryl’s mother Joan Callaghan at Salmontini restaurant.

But Payne may face tough competition when it comes to keeping Cheryl's affections as Prince Harry has been encouraged to marry the Fight For This Love singer as part of his "royal duty".

Speaking at the BT Sport Industry Awards, host Mark Durden-Smith joked: "I know you take your royal duties very seriously Harry and I think one of the duties that the nation would like you to perform is to marry Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

"It's what the nation wants Harry so give it some thought."
