Liam Gallagher offered a job to Premier League footballer Peter Crouch as his bassist.

The former England striker, 38, said the rocker, 46, offered him the chance to come and play at one of his "big gigs".

In an interview with the Radio Times, Crouch said the offer came after Gallagher appeared at Crouchfest 2019 - a live version of Crouch's podcast - last month.

''Music is a passion of mine, I'd like to get into promoting new bands," he said. "Liam offered me a job as a musician the other day.

Gallagher's current bassist is Drew McConnell, who previously played in Babyshambles with Pete Doherty, 40.

He told NME:“I’d never met Drew before and you know – he’s f****** talented. He’s played with The La’s, Drew, so he’s obviously talented.

"To keep the f***ing Babyshambles thing going he’s gotta be pretty headstrong, you know what I mean.”

Last month, Crouch announced his retirement from football.

He scored over 100 top flight goals across stints with Liverpool, Tottenham and Stoke among many others as well as netting 22 times for his country.

After his contract with Burnley came to an end, he said he was mulling over his future before announcing on Twitter he would call it a day.
