Kesha has spoken out to thank Lady Gaga and Joe Biden for addressing sexual abuse at this year’s Oscars.

The Vice President of the United States introduced Gaga during Sunday night’s ceremony by calling for a change to the victim blame culture surrounding rape.

He said: “Despite significant progress over the last few years, too many women and men on and off college campuses are victims of sexual abuse.

”We must and we can change the culture so that no abused woman or man - like the survivors you see here tonight - ever feel like they have to ask themselves, 'What did I do?' They did not do anything wrong.”

Gaga then performed Oscar-nominated song Til It Happened To You while surrounded by victims of assault.

Kesha, who has been trying to get out of her contract with Sony Music after accusing producer Dr Luke of assaulting her, took to Twitter on Sunday night to thank them both.

She wrote: “Thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars. it hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons.”

Dr Luke - real name Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald – denies all of the allegations.
