A young cancer patient forced to miss a Katy Perry concert after emergency surgery was stunned when the pop superstar dropped in to play a surprise show in her bedroom.

Grace Moores, eight, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April and had an unplanned operation last Wednesday which left her unable to attend Monday’s concert in her hometown of Adelaide.

Perry, in Australia on her blockbuster Witness global tour, heard of her plight after Grace’s sister Tiana, 16, tweeted about it to her 50 followers: “My baby sister is meant to attend @katyperry concert in Adelaide this year but was diagnosed with a 6cm brain tumour and has been battling all year.

"Grace has been Katy’s biggest fan since she was 3, please help us try and get in contact with @katyperry”.

It got 20,000 retweets and Perry, 33, arrived at the little girl’s home with two backing musicians yesterday to perform three of her hits, including Roar, in a show shared with her 71 million followers on Instagram.

She then posed for photographs with a beaming Grace and her sister on their sofa. Grace said the visit was a dream come true, adding: “She sang three of her songs and she looked at our bedrooms”.

Tiana tweeted afterwards: “GUYS WE DID IT! @katyperry just visited grace! She’s truly amazing and such a sweet person.”

She added later:“I just tried to do a little bit to get Grace to have fun. It was amazing to have no status and then to have Katy Perry here.”

Their mother Marie Moores added: “Even through all of this, it was like ‘I want to get better to see Katy’. It was the one thing she had been looking forward to for so long.”

Perry is continuing her Witness tour, which has also included the UK, in Melbourne and Brisbane this month before finishing up in Sydney.
