Katy Perry and Taylor Swift will not perform together at this year’s MTV VMAs.

Producer Garrett English confirmed the news after mounting speculation from fans following Swift’s new music announcement and Perry’s Swish Swish video teaser.

Asked if there was any truth to the rumours, English told Entertainment Tonight: “Not so far, no. That's not happening as far as [I know].

“I've certainly seen all the rumours flying around, but that's not happening.”

Perry is hosting Sunday night’s event and will also perform.

English said that he feels “incredibly lucky” to have Perry on board, saying: “Obviously she has a great heritage with our show, our brand, our audience. So, it's a very easy conclusion for us.

“She's been lovely and we're having a fantastic week putting it all together.”

Perry sent fans into meltdown when she tweeted a teaser for the soon-to-be-released music video for Swish Swish and appeared to reference Swift’s alter-ego Catastrophe from her star-studded Bad Blood video.

Perry posted the 50 second clip alongside the caption: “COUNTDOWN TO CATASTROPHE.”

Fans quickly questioned if Swift will star in Perry’s video, while others speculated as to whether or not Swift will perform with Perry at Sunday night’s awards bash.

One fan tweeted: “Is Taylor ‘Catastrophe’ Swift going to be in the Swish Swish video?”

Her tweet came two days before Swift confirmed she will drop her hotly anticipated new single on Thursday night ahead of brand new album Reputation in November.

Fans were hoping the pair would end their long running feud by collaborating at the MTV VMAs.

Their feud is said to have started when three of Perry's California Dreams world tour dancers received a place on Swift's 2012 world tour.
