Kanye West is set to give a speech at Oxford University this afternoon.

The Yeezus rapper's address will be hosted by the Oxford Guild Society - the UK’s largest and oldest professional society.

It will take place at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History at 3pm.

Abbas Kazmi, Chairman of the Oxford Guild, said in a statement that organisers were "negotiating against the odds" to keep the musicians appearance under wraps.

“We are very excited to be hosting such an inspiring and high profile a speaker as the legendary Kanye West and expect it to be a fascinating and memorable event," he said.

"It is great to see the hard work pay off after having spent many hours negotiating against the odds and keeping things under wraps to secure this event which is a real coup for the Guild which I am proud to see continuing to grow from strength to strength, reaching even higher heights and winning ever more national awards and accolades.

"Special thanks must to go the committee for their efforts, enthusiasm and commitment. The Guild is very keen to ensure that all Oxford students are given a chance to hear from Kanye West and will be uploading a full video of the talk after the event."

Some 1,800 students had balloted for tickets by 12:30am, according to Oxford’s student newspaper, Cherwell.

It is not clear as to what the 37-year-old will talk about.

West – who performed his new single All Day at the BRIT Awards last Wednesday - took to Twitter to announce the title for his upcoming album last night.

He tweeted, "New Album title..." before posting a picture of what could be the cover, alongside the caption: "So Help Me God."
