Jon Voight bought six turkeys for a shopper that he met in line for the checkout at a supermarket in Kentucky.

The A-list actor and father of Angelina Jolie made the spur-of -the-moment purchase on Friday when he realised that the person in front of him was buying six turkeys for charity.

According to shopper Sydney Gholston, 28, Voight asked her why she was buying so many turkeys and then offered to pay for them when she said that they were for charity Home Of The Innocents.

Sharing an image of the star on their Facebook page, the charity thanked the Midnight Cowboy star for his kind contribution.

“Our employee Sydney Gholston went to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys for our kids today,” the post read.

“What a treat when she ran into Jon Voight who is in town filming a movie and he asked what the turkeys were for.

“Jon generously paid for the turkeys to feed our kids next week! We are so thankful for his generosity!”

Hollywood star Jon Voight urges people to give Donald Trump a chance

Gholston later told ABC News: “Very nice guy. He was very interested in what we did at the home. He said that was wonderful.”

Voight, who stars in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump throughout the US elections.

Speaking about his win, he recently said: “I worked very hard for him. I love Donald Trump.

“The media all across the world were negative about his chances so it surprised a lot of people.

“I'm very glad the American people stood by him and I think everybody has got to take it easy a little bit.

“I know they're hurting. I was hurt in the same way when Mitt Romney lost. I know it hurts you deeply but take it easy, take a deep breath.

“He's going to do a lot of good things and very quickly.”
