Johnny Depp will be adding to his fortune after confirming he is auctioning off his art collection.

Depp’s pricey collection of Jean-Michel Basquiat paintings will go under the hammer at Christie's later this month.

He will be selling a total of nine works by the street artist which he collected over a 25 year period.

Basquiat's 1981 artwork ‘Pork’, which was painted on a wooden door, is expected to bring sell for $3.5 - $5million.

Speaking about the collection Depp said: "Nothing can replace the warmth and immediacy of Basquiat’s poetry, or the absolute questions and truths that he delivered.

"The beautiful and disturbing music of his paintings, the cacophony of his silence that attacks our senses, will live far beyond our breath."

News of the auction comes weeks after Depp’s estranged wife Amber Heard filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences after 15 months of marriage.

The actress, 30, was later granted a temporary restraining order against Depp after she claimed the actor hurled a mobile phone at her during a fight on May 21, which struck her cheek and eye.

Depp denied the claims and his representative said in a statement that the actor “will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life”.
