Jesy Nelson gave an emotional speech as she won the Factual Entertainment Show award for her heartbreaking BBC Three documentary Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out at the National Television Awards.

The Little Mix singer, 28, thanked boyfriend Chris Hughes for "bringing [her] up every day and making [her] feel confident" as she tearfully accepted the award from Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly at the ceremony at London's O2 Arena.

Her documentary, which aired in September on BBC Three and smashed viewing records for the channel, saw the singer detail her struggle with online trolling and low self-image.

Hughes featured in Nelson’s heart-breaking film, in which she opened up about how vile online trolls labelled her "the fat one" in Little Mix.

Odd One Out became BBC Three's most-watched factual title since the channel moved online in 2016. It was the top programme on BBC iPlayer in the week of release with 1.87 million requests within seven days, with 64 percent of them from 16.34 year olds.

The candid programme, which covered Nelson's attempt to take her own life in 2013 after becoming "obsessed" with negative comments, was hailed by fans as compulsory viewing, many of whom suggested it should be shown in schools.

Nelson arrived at the ceremony with her boyfriend Hughes on the red carpet and posed for pictures with the former Love Island star
