Jeremy Vine has been reported to the BBC for claiming to have ‘man flu’ on the radio.

The reporter seemed shocked as he informed fans that a listener had made a complaint under the broadcaster’s Equality and Diversity code.

He tweeted on Tuesday: “Oh great, someone’s reported me under the BBC Equality and Diversity Code because I told @DrSarahJarvis yesterday I had man flu.”

Vine, 50, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing this year, had been talking to Dr Sarah Javis during his Radio 2 show about a ‘mystery’ illness that he’s been suffering from.

He then joked with the doctor that he thought it might just be ‘man flu’, apparently causing offence to one of his listeners.

Vine managed to broaden his fanbase this year after showing off his dancing skills on the BBC One show.

He just missed out on the chance to dance at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom after becoming the eighth star to be voted off.

A spokesperson for the BBC has said: “We have had one complaint from a member of the public but we wouldn't give any further details of the content of complaint.”
