Jennifer Lopez celebrated the last year of her 40s the only way she knows how – by popping champagne bottles on the beach in Barbados while rocking a killer bikini body.

The pop superstar partied with friends, family and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez in the Caribbean this week as she turned 49, posting the evidence in all its glory on Instagram.

The singer’s latest snap, shared on Tuesday night, shows her raising a bottle of fizz to the camera, but her followers were more concerned with her apparently ageless appearance.

Looking pretty much identical to her Love Don’t Cost a Thing days, circa 2001, JLo wore a tiny string bikini for the beach party, captioning her snap: “Birthday situation… yup.”

“It’s your 20th birthday, right,” one very impressed fan commented on the post. “Cause you look like 20.”

Another posted: “Haha I swear you’re lying about your age, no way you’re pushing 50, more like 29 pushing 30!”

While Lopez might be a gym fanatic, she recently claimed that her youthful appearance is all down to “positive thinking”.

She told Harper’s Bazaar that she has the words, “I am youthful and timeless at every age”, stitched onto a pillow case at her Bel-Air mansion, which she reads aloud every day.

“It sounds like clichéd b******* but it's not: Age is all in your mind. Look at Jane Fonda,” she told the magazine.

According to her boyfriend Rodriguez, it’s also down to little things like sleeping loads, ditching the booze, getting a lot of facials and working out five times a week.

"She really leans in to the big fundamentals,” he said. “Like getting her rest, eight to 10 hours. She doesn't drink, doesn't smoke. She lives a very clean life.”
