Jennifer Lawrence has hit out at the ‘focus’ on weight and size in Hollywood.

In a new interview, the Oscar-winner says that obsession with body shape is ‘sending the wrong message’ to young women.

Speaking to Grazia, she said: “I hate all the focus on weight and size that you have in our business.

“I don’t think an actress needs to be skinny to be attractive and it sends the wrong message to young women.”

Lawrence, 25, added that an actress must be judged on her talent rather than anything else.

She said: “It’s important that, as actresses, we need to establish ourselves first and foremost for our talent and not for our physical appearance.”

The A-lister has also been outspoken about about the gender pay gap this year, urging women not to settle for less than their male co-stars.

In a post on Lena Dunham’s newsletter, Lenny, Lawrence wrote:

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d**ks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself.

“I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early.”
