Jenna Dewan has admitted she was “always very happy being a wife” before her split from Channing Tatum.

The American actress opened up about her past in a new Harper’s Bazaar profile where she told how she’s excited for the future.

Speaking to the publication, Dewan revealed: “The moves I’m making are completely not related to my marriage or separation, interestingly enough.

“I was always very happy being a wife.”

However, the 37-year-old admitted other questions of identity came into consideration of the decision to part ways with the Magic Mike actor.

She said: “[Questions like] ‘Who are you? What do you want to give to the world? What excites you?’

“Those feelings started bubbling up for me, naturally… so I really wanted to expand my life, and myself.

“And that was my journey, no one else’s.”

She added that she feels a new sense of “freedom” and is “hopeful” for her future.

Dewan and Tatum revealed their decision to “lovingly separate” after nine years of marriage last month.

At the time, the Hollywood couple insisted that there are “no secrets nor salacious event” behind their decision to split and that they would remain “family” for the sake of their five-year-old daughter, Everly.
