James Corden proved he is more than a chat show host when he was invited to play piano for Coldplay on The Late Late Show.

Corden, 37, joined the band as they performed their single A Head Full Of Dreams on the American TV show.

Keen to be one of the band, Corden appeared to take on the piano solo – much to the delight of Chris Martin and his fellow band mates.

Clearly impressed by Corden’s piano playing, the audience broke into applause as he wrapped up his musical contribution.

It is not the first time the Gavin and Stacey actor has rattled off a tune on his chat show.

He played a grand piano at the end of his first Late Late Show in March.

Wowing the audience with his musical talent, he sang: "My name is James Corden and tonight my dreams came true, to look like I can play piano."

The Coldplay skit comes just days after Corden made Harry Styles get a new tattoo live on the show after he lost a game of tattoo roulette with his One Direction band mates.

The singer was left with the permanent inking 'Late Late' on his left arm.
