James Corden channelled his inner musician as he jumped out of the car for an impromptu gig with the Foo Fighters during Carpool Karaoke.

The six-piece piled into the back of Corden’s car for a session of head banging and air drumming before pulling over for a session at a guitar centre.

Frontman Dave Grohl asked the Late Late Show host if he can drum to which he replied: “No, I mean I could kick both your asses because rhythm moves within me.

“I’ve never really picked up the sticks but I don’t consider it to be an issue because what is drumming? It’s a feeling.”

He attempted to out-drum Grohl and Taylor Hakwins, before declaring: “Alright I was wrong. Drumming is more than a feeling.”

He then swapped the drum kit for a guitar as he channelled his inner Rick Astley for a rick-rolling cover of the popstar’s 1987 hit Never Gonna Give You Up.

A fan of his performance, Grohl joked: “See you should be the singer in a band.”

Corden replied: “I loved it, it’s incredible. You’re alright, you all stay in a band. I’m going to get out of the car and be depressed thinking ‘oh I was in a band for an hour’.”

Chris Shiflett joked: “Well, we never let you in the band. Technically. It was a probationary period feel out.”

The Late Late Show skit saw the band belt through hits including All My Life, Best Of You, Learn To Fly and The Sky Is A Neighbourhood.

They also recalled the time they first met, as well as Grohl’s on-stage accident which resulted in a broken leg and cost them their headline set at Glastonbury Festival in 2015.
