The Duchess of York’s former dresser Jane Andrews, currently serving a life sentence at Bullwood Hall prison in Essex for murdering her boyfriend Tom Cressman, must count herself lucky that she never sold her London flat.

She now scoops a healthy income from the traditionally decorated two bedroom, second-floor property in a mansion block overlooking Battersea Park. “Jane lets the place and that pays the mortgage,” a friend tells me. “She bought it some years ago for a very good price. So when she leaves prison in around 10 years time she won’t be destitute.” Albert Hall Estates estimate that a similar flat could sell for £325,000, and can currently be let for a handsome £310 a week.

Corrie's Anne heads south

After living in the wilds of Cheshire for most of her life, former Coronation Street star Anne Reid, has finally sold up and moved south. She has rented a flat in Bloomsbury for an estimated £450 a week while looking for
somewhere to buy. Reid, now reinventing herself as a femme fatale granny with a toyboy in the movie The Mother, wanted to live closer to her film editor son, Mark. She also plans to buy a holiday home in the south of France around Antibes.
