Cut back overgrown shrubs (but not conifers) hard during the next fortnight to promote bushy new growth from the base.

Protect hostas from being eaten by slugs with a few, but only a few, slug pellets.

Deadhead pansies, violas, daisies, polyanthus, primroses and early dwarf wallflowers in tubs to keep them flowering prolifically.
