Frankie puts on a Boyle Variety Performance that no royal would dream of attending
Frankie Boyle will get his own variety programme in August on Channel 4.
The outspoken comedian, whose sketch show Tramadol Nights was axed earlier this year, will present his own Boyle Variety Performance, which will be his own take on a royal variety event and feature celebrities, comedy and various acts, as part of Funny Fortnight.
A spokesman said: "The Boyle Variety Performance is Frankie's unique take on a royal variety event. The show will come direct from a London theatre and feature content so cutting-edge and scurrilously funny that no self-respecting royal would dream of attending."
Frankie's new programme will be joined alongside Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's latest panel show Lucky Sexy Winners, which will feature new characters, sketches and "several unexpected anarchic twists along the way", during the two weeks of comedy.
Other shows due to take place will see Harry Hill host a reunion programme and Peter Kay doing a new stand-up show, as well as comedy stars including The Inbetweeners actor Blake Harrison, Phonejacker comic Kayvan Novak and comedienne Morgana Robinson featuring on sketch show Them From That Thing.
Shane Allen, Channel 4's head of comedy, explained: "Funny Fortnight is a chance to celebrate our achievements with a raft of new shows featuring many of the biggest names in British comedy."
