Check our council-by-council guide to the fireworks displays in London before the weekend, and avoid the disappointment of arriving at an empty field in the pouring rain with only a packet of damp sparklers to keep you entertained...

MERTON
Displays will be held at Wimbledon Park on Friday 4 November and at Morden Park on Saturday 5 November. Both displays will include sidestalls and a fairground. Gates open at 5.15pm, the first performance starts at 6.30pm and the second performance at 8.15pm each night. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for under 18's. Children under 5 are free. NEWHAM
Bexton Park South
Newham council is promising a fireworks extravaganza this year, and best of all, it’s free.
Beckton District Park South, Stansfeld Road, E6. Fri 4 Nov. Gates open: 6.30pm. Fireworks start: 7.30pm. Admission is free. Visit www.newham.gov.uk/

REDBRIDGE

Musical Fireworks
This fireworks display is run by Dr Barnardos and will be set to music. It will also feature a fun fair, BBQ, as well as jazz and pop music.
Barkingside Recreation Ground, Cranbrook Road, Barkingside, Sun 6 Nov. Gates open: 5.30pm. Fireworks start: 8pm. Entry: Adults £4, children £2.50.

RICHMOND

Fireworks Extravaganza
As well as a fireworks display there will be a hog roast and large indoor bar.
Richmond Athletic Ground on the Old Deer Park, Richmond. Sun 6 Nov. Gates open at 5pm, display starts at 6pm. Tickets: Adults £8, family £25 Bookings through Orange Tree Theatre Box Office, Kew Road, Richmond. Tel: 020 8940 3633.

SOUTHWARK

Fireworks Spectacular
Shakespeare’s Globe and Southwark Council hosts a spectacular free fireworks display on the river Thames. Actors and street theatre group ‘The Lions Part’ will be entertaining the crowds on the South Bank in front of the Tate Modern and the north bank in front of St Paul’s Cathedral from 7pm. Following the display, visit Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition for the story of the Gunpowder Plot and a guided tour of the Globe Theatre for £3.

SUTTON

Carshalton Park
This event will be helping to raise money for charity and has been organised by members of the local Round Table/
Carhshalton Park, Ruskin Road. Sat 5th Nov. Entry at 6pm, fireworks at 7pm. Tickets can be bought in advance from local newsagents for £3. Entry on the night is £5. Tel: 020 8647 5166

WALTHAM FOREST

Spectacular Fireworks Display
There will be music from East End Radio, a funfair and bouncy castles to keep the children entertained, and arts and craft stalls to wander around.

WANDSWORTH

Premier firework display
This event promises to be an incredible night of entertainment with fire fountains and huge fireworks all set to a major sports themed sound track to celebrate our wins at the Rugby World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Ashes and qualifying for the Football World Cup 2005.
