Don’t be fooled by the salmon-pink sofas and the midday cookery slot – Fern Britton has revealed that her “real me” is about steamy dances a la Strictly Come Dancing.

The former This Morning presenter, who was voted off the BBC ballroom show last month after dancing with Artem Chigvinstev in a shocking pink mini dress, said she revelled in finally being able to show off her glamorous side.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the star said: "You all think I'm mumsy, mumsy, but I'm not.”

She added that the Fern who gyrated over the judges’ table on her final show appeareance was “the real me”, saying: “I know how to have a good time, I like to be extrovert and I don't mind making a fool of myself.

The 55-year-old said: "I comfort myself with the feeling that the audience know me and that I'm prepared to have a go at things.  "I don't think they're ever shocked by anything that happens to me. I got such lovely messages saying, 'Go, girl'."
