Fans have been left divided over reports that Chris Pratt was reportedly paid $2m more than Bryce Dallas Howard for Jurassic World.

According to the Variety, Pratt earned $10 million (just over £7 million) for his role as Owen Grady in the Fallen Kingdom sequel set to release next year.

Whilst Howard was handed $2 million (nearly £1.5 million) less for her portrayal of Claire Dearing.

Fans have since been split of the findings with some declaring that they should be paid the same if they were on equal billing in the film.

One wrote: “Bryce Dallas Howard was as much the lead of the first Jurassic World movie as anyone else, it’s not unreasonable to expect her to be paid as much as Chris Pratt.”

Another posted: “Agents and Managers need to be held accountable for the disparity in what male and female actors are paid. #fireyouragent because they KNOW what the male actors on their rosters are getting paid for comparable roles #showmethemoney.”

Whilst another defended: “Bryce Dallas Howard was as much the lead of the first Jurassic World movie as anyone else, it's not unreasonable to expect her to be paid as much as Chris Pratt.”

However, others defended the gap stating simply that Pratt is the “bigger star” in the movie and is who they “line-up” to see.

One said: “People are agitating for Bryce Dallas-Howard to be paid the same as Chris Pratt for the Jurassic Park movies.

Chris Pratt is the main draw, not to mention the “spectacle”. I doubt anyone would care were Bryce in the sequel or not, whereas they would if Chris wasn’t in it.”

Meanwhile another wrote: “Chris Pratt is a big star, Bryce is not, I have many collected many of Chris Pratt’s movies on DVD, I cannot even name one previous movie of Bryce Dallas Howard.”

Another fan declared: ‘Chris Pratt is paid 2 million more than Bryce Dallas Howard for the new Jurassic world. It has nothing to do with gender, if the actor/actress brings in a larger audience they get more money.”

The news comes after Benedict Cumberbatch vowed to boycott future projects unless women were on the same salary as their male counterparts.

Standard Online has contacted representatives of Pratt and Howard for comment.
