EastEnders stars Ben Mitchell and Abi Branning were given a grilling by Jeremy Kyle on Good Morning Britain.

Harry Reid and Lorna Fitzgerald, who play the troubled characters, appeared on the ITV breakfast show to discuss the BBC soap - but found themselves victim to a Kyle interrogation.

In an attempt to understand the actors’ storyline, Kyle started: “Please welcome Ben and Abi to the Jeremy Kyle Show.

“Let’s get this absolutely straight. So Ben you’re gay, your father’s an alcoholic. You’re seeing Paul, who’s the son of a funeral director and you got caught under a coffin.”

Addressing Fitzgerald he continued: “You’re his girlfriend, you find out he’s gay and you want to hold onto him so you fake a pregnancy. Then you discover you’re in fact not pregnant so you need to worry about it so you go and try and get pregnant but get an STI instead.”

Surprised by the outburst, the actress joked, “Thank you, life dream fulfilled,” as Kyle handed her a souvenir cue card.

The pair were on the show to talk about the current love triangle between Mitchell, Branning and Paul Coker.

Reid said the storyline has left him drained and "miserable".

He said: "Ben is a very deep character. He has so many layers. He drains me. I come out of a work with a headache because I spend the whole day being grumpy and miserable.

"There is a real complex element to him which makes him really exciting to play."
