Eamonn Holmes has hit out at singer David Cassidy after an awkward interview on This Morning.

The presenter had branded the singer ‘rude’ and ‘delusional’ following the cringeworthy exchange earlier in the day.

The 1970s singer appeared to take offence to questions about his bankruptcy and divorce, accusing Holmes of trying to ‘rubbish him’.

He appeared on the show through a live video link-up after news that he had just filed for bankruptcy and had put his Florida home on the market.

But the star seemed cagey when asked about his money issues, saying: “Are you trying to rubbish me?'

“When you declare bankruptcy in this country, it's something you do in order to reorganise what you have, your assets, so I'm not going to discuss that.”

When Ruth Langsford asked him if he was happy to have the support of his fans, he quickly responded: “Don’t interrupt me.”

While the 65-year-old appeared to be on edge, much of the miscommunication could have been down to technical issues and poor video link.

At one point he said: “What’s difficult for me with this transaction that we’re doing here is that I hear echoes and it’s very difficult to concentrate.”

After the interview, Holmes said: “Folks, we only ask the questions, it's up to them to answer them.”

He later tweeted: “After @ThisMorning interview with us , if @DavidCassidy isn't in @CBB next year they r missing out on his delusion & rudeness! Perfect combo.”
