John Mayer has once again blessed the internet with a “smoky eye make-up tutorial” in his latest series of Instagram stories.

The budding beauty influencer, who recently divulged his skincare secrets in a similar manner, gave his 3 million followers insight into his latest beauty routine.

“I’ve been getting a lot of comments lately asking when am I going to do a smoky eye tutorial,” he opened in typical beauty blogger fashion. “So I thought I would do it for you tonight because so many of you wanted to see it.”

In the series which has been saved to his Instagram page, the Gravity singer satirised beauty bloggers and poked fun at YouTuber stereotypes, much to the delight of fans.

“Here we go, this is a Chanel eyeshadow,” he says, holding up the navy blue and copper Chanel eyeshadow palette which he claims to have acquired for a “colour study”.

Despite accidentally throwing the instructions away, Mayer makes do from memory of the “sheet of paper” that had an “eye” on it.

“Notice how I’m already impressing you with my light touch,” Mayer says while applying his base shade, a step that he claims most “guys get wrong”.

“Don’t forget your eyeball is round. You want to accentuate the roundness of your eyeballs,” he adds without cracking a smile.

Recommending that viewers ignore the advice dished out by most beauty YouTubers, Mayer confidently states that “everybody’s always trying to sell you things and really you only need the [two brushes] that come with it.”

Despite ending up with a bold eye that People magazine likened to The Little Mermaid’s Ursula, the seven-time Grammy winner rounded off with: “I’m sorry, did somebody nail it? No they didn’t but they came close and that’s what matters… giving it your all and being glorious.”

Since the tutorial was posted on his Instagram fed, the self-confessed “recovered ego addict” has hit the 3 million follower mark on the social media platform.
