Demi Lovato is reportedly heartbroken following reports that long-time best friend Selena Gomez suffered an emotional breakdown.

A source told Hollywood life:Demi’s heartbroken that Selena’s suffering like this.

“She knows exactly what it’s like to struggle with depression and anxiety and how painful it is. Demi’s a very sensitive person. She loves Selena so to know she’s hurting this much has hit Demi hard.”

The insider added: “As soon as Demi heard the news she reached out to offer her support to Selena and her family.

“Demi is planning to send a card and a care package too. She wants Selena to feel the love.”

Standard Online has contacted representatives of the pair for comment.

Lovato herself has been in a rehabilitation centre following a suspected overdose earlier this year.

The news comes after reports that 26-year-old Gomez is thought to be currently undergoing treatment for her mental health in the US, having been open about her battles with anxiety and depression in the past.

According to TMZ, the Fetish singer was admitted to hospital twice in the last two weeks for issues relating to her kidney transplant and Lupus diagnosis.

And it seems that the medical setbacks have taken their toll on the singer’s mental health, with a source saying that she had been left feeling “despondent and low”.

Gomez recently told fans that she would be taking a break from social media as she was in need of some time away from Instagram and Twitter.
