Rita Ora may have nearly four million followers on Twitter – but that doesn’t mean they all listen to the singer.

The 23-year-old took to the social media site to tell fans that she would release her new single on Monday - if she got 100,000 retweets.

Fail: Rita was quick to delete the tweet

She wrote: “Dropping my new song on Monday if this gets 100,000 retweets.”

Embarrassingly for Rita she fell short by around 98,000 with only 2,000 fans bothering to take note of her instructions to retweet.

So what did she do? Delete it of course.

It’s hard for a celebrity fail to go unnoticed by fans and Rita’s tweet was no exception.

Fans were quick to make jokes about the Diamonds singers flop with one tweeting sarcastically, “You're almost there.. Just a little bit. @RitaOra,” while another wrote: “I guess Rita Ora won’t be releasing her new single on Monday.”

Rita is set to appear on the new series of BBC One’s The Voice early next year.
