The long-anticipated arrival of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has given the world a whole new list of things to discuss about a galaxy far, far away – including celebrity cameos.

It seems many famous fans of the beloved science fiction saga contributed to the latest film in the series.

Simon Pegg was recently revealed as a grumpy alien seen on the planet Jakku in the early part of the film, while comedian Bill Hader has spoken about being a ‘voice consultant’ for new droid character BB-8.

Now it appears that James Bond actor Daniel Craig might also have a small part in the film – though you wouldn’t know it was him on first look. Of course, details of his exact role contain SPOILERS - so stop reading here if you haven't seen The Force Awakens yet.

Still here? These are the spoilers you're looking for.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Craig plays a masked Stormtrooper in a scene which was filmed at Pinewood Studios, where latest Bond film Spectre was also shot. The anonymous source said he took the role "for s***s and grins".

The scene finds Daisy Ridley's character Rey captured by a First Order Stormtrooper, supposedly played by Craig. She makes her first attempt at a Jedi mind control trick, telling the trooper: “You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, another unnamed source said: “[Craig and director JJ Abrams] concocted the cameo together. I don't know which scene it is but yes, it does involve Daniel playing a Stormtrooper, because they wear helmets and for the most part they're anonymous.”

It looks like the mystery of whether that really is Daniel Craig in the specific scene is likely to rumble on for a while longer.
