Christopher Biggins has vowed to visit Auschwitz after being kicked out of Celebrity Big Brother for making a joke about Nazi extermination camps.

The entertainer and actor, who was removed from the reality show on Friday, has said that he had been planning to visit the site of the World War II camp before taking part on the show.

In an interview with The Sun, the 67-year-old said that he will travel to the Polish city of Krakow in October and visit nearby Auschwitz.

“I am going there. It will be my first time. I know it’s going to be horrible. I know it’s going to be ghastly. I know it’s going to be emotional,” he said.

“Before I went into the house, my partner Neil and I were talking about it because we just feel the whole scenario of the Jewish annihilation is so horrific that we wanted to experience it for ourselves.

“We’re going for five days in October. I’m really looking forward to it. Especially now after this incident.”

Biggins was favourite to win this year’s Celebrity Big Brother but was given the boot after making a comment to Jewish contestant Katie Waissel, referring to gas chambers.

He has since said that he is ‘mortified’ over the incident and has begged Waissel for forgiveness.

He said: “I am mortified by what’s happened, really mortified. Most of my friends, in fact, are Jewish. I apologised to Big Brother and Katie.

“I love Jewish people. Listen, my best friend is Lesley Joseph. You can’t get much more Jewish than that.”

The panto star, who was removed from the house on Friday, had also made earlier controversial comments about bisexuals and referring to Aids as a "bisexual disease".
