Chris Brown pleads guilty to assault

Chris Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for his attack on Parker Adams outside the W Hotel in October while on probation for attacking then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The 24-year-old was sentenced to time already served by a judge after accepting a plea deal at a Washington DC superior court today for his alleged attack on 25-year-old Adams.

Christopher Hollosy - the singer's bodyguard - was also accused of hitting Parker, who claimed he was struck after trying to get in a photograph with the star.

Brown's attorney, Danny Onorato argued that the singer had already faced punishment enough for the assault and said: "To say that he's been punished severely in this matter is an understatement."

According to showbiz site TMZ, the Turn Up the Music singer - who was joined in court by his girlfriend Karrueche Tran - apologised and said he wanted to get his music career back on track after nearly a year away.

The Grammy award winning singer was released from jail on June 2 after spending 108 days behind bars for violating his probation after he allegedly made threats about using guns while seeking anger-management treatment in rehab.

He was previously placed on probation for five years and sentenced to six months community service for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Last month, the star was praised by a judge for his good behaviour after appearing at a Los Angeles court for a progress report on his probation.
