  • Emmerdale's new femme fatale Patsy Kensit, normally based in Notting Hill, is looking for a property to rent near Yorkshire TV's studios outside Leeds. Alas, rentals in the city centre now approach London levels, with a new two-bedroom duplex in K2, Leeds' tallest residential building, available at £2,000 a month through local agent Hunters. But, with two sons, James and Lennon, I expect the former rock chick to rent a house in an up-market residential area, such as Chapel Allerton and Alwoodley. "You'd be looking at around £800 a month," say the agents.
  • Hotel-living clearly appeals to Alyson Hannigan, leading lady in the West End comedy When Harry Met Sally in which she co-stars with Luke Perry. She has been staying in a five-star Mayfair hotel since this remake of the Billy Crystal/Meg Ryan film opened in February. Washingtonborn Aly, notorious for her role in the long-running TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, is married to Hollywood actor Alexis Denisof. She is likely to remain in her £350-a-night suite until at least the end of May.
  • Harpers & Queen editor Lucy Yeomans is now putting the finishing touches to her Notting Hill home. She bought the first-floor, two-bedroom Victorian property last year for £285,000 through Bective Leslie Marsh. "It has taken ages to convert but now just needs the carpets down and some shelves put up," says Loch Lomondraised Lucy, who has installed her baby grand piano.
  • Tufton Court is known locally in Westminster as "Tory Towers" because of its true blue residents, who now include former leader lain Duncan Smith. MPs and House of Lords' members wanting to share this mansion-block address near Parliament should view a two-bedroom, raised ground-floor flat for sale at £395,000 through John D. Wood. "It's in need of some updating," warn the agents. During the 19th century the site attracted raffish folk from all over London as it boasted one of the capital's last cockpits as well as a male brothel.
  • Writer Tessa Dahl, eldest daughter of children's author Roald and mother of supermodel Sophie, is selling her home near Oxford. The six-bedroom, Grade II listed former blacksmith's forge in the village of Wheatley is for sale at £675,000 through local agent Morgan & Associates. "The house is too big for me now that my four children have left home, except for the youngest, Ned," Tessa tells me. "I'm also spending more time in New York. But I have my eye on buying a smaller house nearby in Oxfordshire."
