Cara Delevingne was told she was acting like she was 'irritated' and should 'take a nap' during an awkward interview.

The British model-turned-actress who has had a hectic schedule promoting new film Paper Towns, was chided by anchors on Good Morning Sacramento for not seeming 'excited' enough.

Starting off on the wrong foot, one of the interviewers called the star 'Carla', setting the tone for the rest of the interview.

When asked if she'd read the novel by John Greene, on which the film is based, Delevingne jokingly responded: "Uh, no I never read the book, or the script. I kind of winged it."

But despite the star giving detailed answers to the questions, the anchors decided to cut her off, saying that she'd seemed more 'excited' while being interviewed in London.

Seemingly shocked by the reaction, Delevingne admitted that she was still 'excited' by the film, but joked that it was 'very early.'

Ending the interview early, the CBS presenters told the actress to 'have a nap and get a Red Bull' while she looked on in surprise.

The world-renowned supermodel has successfully turned her hand to acting this year, and is set to star in films including Suicide Squad and London Fields.

When asked about the transition, she recently said: "I work really hard and don’t want anyone to think that this is a fluke or I got this because of my social media presence. If I got this part, I’d like to think it’s on merit."
