Busted reunion: Band 'set to reform with Charlie Simpson' - despite singer vowing he would 'never' return

Fans may have thought they would be waiting longer than the year 3000 for a reunion when Busted split – but the boy band may be heading for a reunion.

The trio devastated fans when they announced their break-up in 2005 but after a ten year hiatus Charlie Simpson is rumoured to be reuniting with his former band mates Matt Willis and James Bourne.

"Busted are re-forming by the end of the year and Charlie is part of the band again,” a source told The Sun. “It's amazing because Matt and James have always said there's more chance of pigs flying than Charlie coming back to Busted.

"But this is something that has been secretly discussed for a number of months - it was important the three guys felt they could work together again and get along as friends.”

Simpson – who fronted Fightstar after leaving Busted – said of a reunion in 2011: "I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have no interest whatsoever in rejoining Busted and I never will."

But he is said to have been tempted back by the financial success of super group McBusted – a collaboration of Willis and Bourne and the members of McFly.

They said: "Obviously McBusted’s success, including financially, must have had something to do with Charlie’s decision."

McBusted guitarist Tom Fletcher also teased Simpson's return to Busted on Instagram.

Alongside a picture of himself on stage, he wrote: "Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Charlie freakin Simpson!...or so rumour has it."
