He is the one who knocks - but Bryan Cranston isn't sure if his hit character Walter White will feature in the upcoming Breaking Bad film.

The hit US drama series, which officially ended in 2013, saw Cranston take on the role of high-school chemistry teacher White as he battled terminal cancer.

In a desperate bid to earn as much money as possible, White, later known as Heisenberg, befriended Jesse Pinkman to make and sell blue meth.

Cranston has since told how he has “not even read the script” for film.

Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, he said: “There appears to be a movie version of Breaking bad.

“I have not gotten the script, I have not read the script. There's the question of whether or not we'll even see Walter White in this movie. Think about that one.”

But, he did add that he would be open to reprising his role as the iconic character.

The 62-year-old said: “I would, absolutely [be in it]. It's Vince Gilligan. If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely.

“He's a genius. It's a great story, and there's a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some sort of completion to some of these storylines that were left open.

"This idea, from what I was told, gets into at least a couple of the characters who were not completed as far as their journey.”

Breaking Bad prequel

It is yet to be announced whether any of the original stars will be a part of the supposed two-hour production, including Cranston and co-star Aaron Paul who played Pinkman.

Executive producers of prequel show Better Call Saul are also said to be attached to the project, which will reportedly follow the escape of a kidnapped man.

Better Call Saul’s fourth season was unveiled earlier this year, meeting with the Breaking Bad era and welcoming Jimmy McGill’s alias Saul Goodman.

Star of the series Bob Odenkirk previously revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the forthcoming series of the show may be set after the events of Breaking Bad which raises questions about when the potential film would be set.
